The end of an era at Sevilla FC. A few minutes before kick-off of its match against Celta Vigo, this Saturday in La Liga, the Andalusian club paid tribute to one of the most important players in its history: Jesus Navas. The 39-year-old right midfielder played his last match at the Sanchez Pizjuán stadium.

Trained in Andalusia, Navas played more than 340 matches with the Sevillistas between 2003 and 2013, before joining Manchester City. Returning to Seville in 2017, he took part in more than 300 matches during his second stint. In total, the 2010 world champion scored 39 goals and provided 119 assists with the southern Spanish club and notably won four Europa Leagues (2006, 2007, 2020 and 2023) and a European Super Cup ( 2007). Last July, Jesus Navas announced that he would retire from the field at the end of this year. He will play his final match with Sevilla, against Real Madrid, next weekend at the Santiago Bernabéu.
