Since the serious injury of Marc-André ter Stegen, Iñaki Peña has established himself as the starting goalkeeper of FC Barcelona. While many doubts had been cast against him, his strong performances against Real Madrid and Bayern Munich proved that he was the German’s successor. To reward him, Catalan management intends to offer him a contract extension, reports Mundo Deportivo.
The club is waiting for the right moment to offer him this extension, regardless of any offers he could receive next summer. Hansi Flick has also validated this future proposal. The Spanish media also reports that the native of Alicante does not seem to be considering leaving. Trained at La Masia, Peña is currently under contract until 2026. The Spanish goalkeeper also has a release clause set at 400 million euros.
