After four seasons spent at Paris Saint-GermainDanilo Pereira was transferred at the beginning of last September to the Saudi club Al-Ittihad. The Portuguese international was no longer part of the plans of
Luis Enrique.
In an interview given to Parisianthe 33-year-old returned to the circumstances of his departure from the Rouge et Bleu. “It was the choice of the coach, with whom I did not discuss. I didn’t want to continue at a club where they didn’t count on me. I was told: ‘you don’t count, you have to look for another club'”, reveals the one who is today the teammate of Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kanté.
Danilo did not deserve such treatment
Danilo seems to have been very affected by this transfer which he hardly wanted. “I wanted to continue my career there. Bitterness? Yes, it wasn’t easy because I didn’t expect the club to leave me out of the group. That was the most painful feeling. I don’t think I deserved this treatment. It was very hard. I was touched because I don’t understand why the club behaved like that”confesses the native of Bissau (Guinea-Bissau).
Danilo still had one year left on his contract with PSG when he had to leave. The leaders of the Rouge et Bleu hoped to gain ten million euros by transferring him. They ultimately only recovered half of the expected amount. The former Porto player will have played 115 matches with Paris, in all competitions, and scored eight goals.
