Arriving on loan from FC Porto in October 2020, Danilo Pereira convinced Paris Saint-Germain to keep him and sign him for good in July 2021, against a check for sixteen million euros. A true Swiss army knife of the team for three seasons, the Portuguese midfielder who regularly helped out in central defense, however, experienced a bitter end to his adventure. An experience that hurt him.
Pushed towards the exit and transferred somewhat in disaster to the Saudi club Al-Ittihad last September, Danilo Pereira had remained silent until now about his end of career at PSG. He finally broke the silence, during an interview published Friday evening by The Parisian. The time had come for him to settle scores with his former leaders. “
A way of doing things that doesn’t work
While he claims to have received several offers from different European clubs such as Atlético de Madrid or his former team FC Porto, the thirty-three-year-old man assured that PSG had simply “refused a lot of offers” concerning him. As a result, Danilo Pereira did what was necessary to leave, in order to cut the cord with a PSG which he nevertheless admits to still appreciating today.
“I didn’t want to continue at a club where they didn’t count on me. (…) They didn’t make my departure easy at all. That’s what hurt me, because I really have affection for Paris. I wanted to continue my career there. » And to add with regret: “It wasn’t easy because I didn’t expect the club to leave me out of the group. That was the most painful feeling. I don’t think I deserved this treatment. It was very hard. I was touched because I don’t understand why the club behaved like that. I didn’t hurt anyone, I just wanted to train normally while I figured out the best solution.”
