Elye Wahi has had a complicated start to his career at Olympique de Marseille. Since his arrival at the club last summer, the young French striker has only found the net twice and provided just one assist in twelve games.
Faced with his disappointing performances, the former Lensois, who had started the season in the starting role at the forefront of the Marseille attack, gradually lost his place. Roberto De Zerbi, the OM coach, now prefers Neal Maupay. A choice which seems to be bearing fruit, since the native of Versailles, failing to score, distinguished himself by delivering four assists in the last three matches.
Wahi wants to convince De Zerbi
According to The Teamthis situation did not dampen Wahi’s determination. The latter would not dream of leaving the club this winter, a state of mind shared by the Marseille leaders, who paid 25 million euros to secure his services.
The sports daily also specifies that the Ile-de-France resident remains on the lookout, awaiting a new tenure to prove his value and regain the trust of the Italian coach. So far, he has played 14 games this season, including 7 as a starter.
