Doubt remains as to the future of Jonathan David at LOSC. At the end of his contract next June, the Canadian striker is attracting the attention of several European big names, including Juventus, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United, according to the

Rumors even suggest a transfer this winter, allowing the northern club to recover cash. A hypothesis however brushed aside by Olivier Létang, president of the Dogues.

“Jonathan’s situation is super simple. We are very happy to have him with us. Last offseason, he had one year left on his contract. We could qualify for the Champions League. When you have a boy who scores 20-25 goals per season… We weren’t stuck with the obligation to sell him. Besides, we didn’t get any offers. Our position was very clear from the start, we thought about sportsmanship”he declared on RMC.
The Lille manager confirmed the club’s wish to extend the Brooklynite’s lease. “Jonathan, obviously, already has an offer (for an extension, editor’s note) in his hands. The ball is in his court. We have a lot of discussions about the fact that he can stay with us. He will not leave in January. He will stay with us because he is an important player. He will stay because in May we have objectives. When you have a player who scores 20-25 goals, qualifying for the Champions League at the end of the season, that balances out a transfer that didn’t happen.”he concluded.
