At 38, and despite being far from his peak fitness, the former Manchester United captain brought Old Trafford to life in a match between the Red Devils and Celtic legends.
It has been two years since a Manchester United player scored from a direct free-kick at the Theatre of Dreams, and Rooney was there to remind the fans in attendance of that sweet feeling. His curling free-kick into the top corner was Mancunian’s only goal of the game.
