Didier Deschamps and Emmanuel Macron played a football match this Wednesday, as part of the Yellow Pieces operation. Immediately, the coach was invited to the Élysée.

Day of relaxation and football match for a good cause, such was the program of several personalities this Wednesday. Engaged with the Variétés Club de France for a match organized near Plaisir, in Yvelines, several football figures met, under the leadership of the organizer, Jacques Vendroux. For the second time, the seventy-six-year-old man managed to bring in a prestigious guest, in the person of Emmanuel Macron. The President of the Republic even scored from the penalty spot. Following the event, a reception was planned at the Élysée. With Didier Deschamps among the guests.

Also present at Plaisir to play the charity match alongside several of his former partners in the French team including Laurent Blanc, Marcel Desailly, Christian Karembeu and Robert Pirès, the current coach of the Blues was therefore invited to share the dinner of gala chaired in the evening by Brigitte Macron. An invitation confirmed by L’Equipe, and which can be explained by the simple fact that Didier Deschamps is the godfather of the Yellow Pieces alongside the First Lady who is its godmother. However, he is not the only representative of French football to sit at the presidential table since according to the sports media, the president of the FFF, Philippe Diallo, will also be there.

Pirès sees triple

During the Variétés meeting, President Macron therefore scored the fifth and final goal for his team. But it was especially Robert Pirès who stood out with a hat-trick. The 98 world champion had decided to strengthen his game to throw his own perfectly. Samuel Eto’o also found the net, as did Emmanuel Adebayor and a certain Rudi Garcia. The meeting also raised 57,500 euros which were donated to the Hospital Foundation.

As for Didier Deschamps, he will now return to preparing for Euro 2024 which will take place from June 14 to July 14. The French coach has two final matches to make some final adjustments, with clashes scheduled for June 5 and 9, respectively against Luxembourg and Canada. The Blues will then begin the Euro with a first match scheduled for June 17 against Austria.
