A poll has revealed that Liverpool fans want club legend Steven Gerrard to replace Jurgen Klopp as manager, not Zinedine Zidane or Ruben Amorim.
The Reds have been looking for a new coach since Jurgen Klopp publicly announced he would be leaving the club at the end of the current season. The Reds have been linked with several managers in recent months, with Sporting CP’s Amorim considered the favorite to replace the outgoing German coach.
However, Reds fans have chosen their favorite candidate who could join the club ahead of the 2024-25 season and it is none other than club legend Steven Gerrard. LiveScore Bet recently surveyed 2,036 people to find out who supporters wanted as their next manager.
Liverpool don’t want Zizou
The results revealed that 41% of fans want to see Gerrard at the helm, while Xabi Alonso and Zidane come in second and third with 18% and 8% of the votes respectively. These three coaches are followed by Graham Potter (6%), Ange Postecoglou and Roberto De Zerbi (5% each), Amorim and Julian Nagelsmann (4% each), Hansi Flick (3%) and Luis Enrique (2%).
Gerrard was once considered a potential future Liverpool manager, but his performances as manager in recent years have caused his rating to drop dramatically. The former England international is currently in charge of Saudi Pro League side Al-Shabab, who sit in ninth place with 35 points from 28 matches. The next meeting of Klopp’s team will take place on Wednesday, during the Mersey derby against Everton, in the Premier League.
