The Spanish tax authorities requested four years and nine months in prison against Carlo Ancelotti, coach of Real Madrid, for tax evasion this Tuesday.

Spanish prosecutors are seeking a five-year prison sentence for Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti for tax fraud.

According to Relevo, Ancelotti is accused of defrauding the public treasury of more than a million euros between 2014 and 2015, during his first stint at the helm of Real Madrid. The prosecution is now demanding a prison sentence of four years and nine months for the Italian.

The problem concerns the fact that Ancelotti only included remuneration from his position as Real Madrid coach in his tax return and did not take into account income from image rights. The amounts in question amount to 386,361 euros in 2014 and 675,718 euros in 2015.

Appointed to the Real bench in 2013, Ancelotti was dismissed from his position in 2015, a year before the end of his contract. The tax authorities then found that the coach rented the house until October of the same year, so that in 2015 “ Spain was his main center of personal relations and economic interests.”
