Antonela Roccuzzo, Lionel Messi’s wife, is obviously a big fan of Disney princesses. She rightly inherited the name of one of the cartoon heroines.

Pocahontas has been the nickname of the beautiful Argentinian for many years. Unlike her husband who is an Argentinian of European (Catalan and Italian) ancestry, Antonela Roccuzzo most certainly has Native American blood (named after the natives who populated the American continent from north to south before the arrival of Europeans in the 15th century) .

Two children from Rosario
In this “Animated Classic” full of beautiful songs, Pocahontas, inspired by a real person, is a Native American from North America, daughter of the chief of a tribe and promised to one of the warriors of the tribe, who falls in love with a Captain John Smith, disembarked from an English ship of the Virginia Company.
Both natives of Rosario, Antonela and Lionel have known each other since childhood, Antonela being the cousin of one of Messi’s teammates at Newell´s Old Boys (Lucas Scaglia). Messi, who then grew up in Catalonia, had already become Barça’s little phenomenon when he contacted Antonela again (obviously in 2008). Married since 2017, they are raising three sons, Thiago, Mateo and Ciro.
