Mike Maignan is reportedly close to a new improved contract with AC Milan, which would offer him a salary similar to that of Rafael Leao.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan are close to signing a new contract with their goalkeeper, the current terms of which expire in 2026.
The report states that the 28-year-old wants to double his salary, which would take him to a remuneration in the range of that of striker Leao, who reportedly earns €7 million per year.
Towards a new lease for Maignan
The French international has become an important player for Milan since joining the Lombardy club from Lille in 2021. He played a key role in AC Milan’s Serie A victory in 2022, winning the title of best goalkeeper of the division that season. If the Milanese manage to extend his stay at San Siro, it would be a big step forward for the Italian giants.
The report states that negotiations over a new contract will continue over the coming weeks and that the club and Maignan are keen to reach an agreement before the summer transfer window, with Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain linked with the Frenchman.
