Sandy Heribert has presented the Ballon d’Or alongside Didier Drogba since 2019. A French sports journalist, she is fluent in English because her mother is British.
Didier Drogba and Sandy Heribert are the smiling duo who have been leading the Ballon d’Or ceremony since 2019 at the Théâtre du Châtelet in the heart of Paris. This Monday evening again, the former star scorer of Chelsea and Ivory Coast was accompanied by the 39-year-old sports journalist to present the 2023 edition of the gala organized by France Football, live on the L’Equipe channel.
If she is perfectly English, Sandy Heribert is very French. She grew up in the Paris region (like Drogba) and more precisely in Val-d’Oise. Her mother is English, from the North-West of the country, and it is for this reason that she masters the language of Shakespeare so well, with a very British accent. His father is, moreover, originally from Belgium.
Graduated from a journalism school in 2006, Sandy Heribert joined the editorial team of Eurosport before moving on to presenting on the group’s channels, notably in English during the 2014 Winter Olympics. She then worked for I-Télé (now CNews), L’Equipe 21, RTL TVI (in Belgium), Voyage, Automoto la Chaîne and France 2 (for the different formats of theEurovision).
If she is not a familiar face to sports fans, it is because Sandy Heribert, mother, has specialized in recent years in hosting sporting events. She was a speaker during the 2016 Six Nations Tournament, Euro 2016 and the 2019 World Cup in France. In addition to finding the spotlight of the Ballon d’Or every year in front of millions of football fans.
