Sitting bottom of the Premier League, Aston Villa are in need of a striker to try and help them claim out of trouble this season. After apparently missing out on Chelsea’s Loic Remy, according to Foot Mercato, Remi Garde is looking towards his old club for options.
Although he only joined in the summer, Claudio Beauvue has enjoyed a less than stellar time at Olympique Lyonnais. After 18 games the forward has only managed four goals in Ligue 1. It was reported earlier in the month that the club had already offered the striker to Toulouse in order to try and sign Wissam Ben Yedder.
Lyon took the plunge after Beauvue scored 17 goals in 36 games for Guingamp last season. His accelerated improvement under Jocelyn Gourvennec at the Breton club was hard to ignore, but it just hasn’t clicked at OL.
If they can find a replacement, Lyon would be willing to sell the 27-year-old. At Guingamp, Beauvue showed great aerial ability and superb talent at popping up at the right place at the right time to score some spectacular and important goals.
MOUKANDJO NOW A VILLA TARGET
On Thursday morning, French newspaper L’Equipe are reporting that Aston Villa are also targeting FC Lorient’s Benjamin Moukandjo this month.
Scoring 11 goals in 19 games this season, the Cameroonian forward has more than covered for the loss of Jordan Ayew this summer – now, Remi Garde is looking to sign the man who replaced him.
Moukandjo has enjoyed an excellent season. His pace down the channels and ability to power past defenders. Lorient is Moukandjo’s fifth French club, and it feels like he has finally found a place where he can blossom – it is very unlikely that Les Merlus will let him go during this January window.
