Hoping to build on their unexpected success this season, Leicester City are looking to strengthen their forward line this month. One of Claudio Ranieri’s reported targets is FC Porto forward, Vincent Aboubakar.
The 23-year-old has played 14 games and scored six goals in the Liga Sagres this season. This is his second campaign with the Portuguese giants after moving from FC Lorient. In France the centre-forward finished with 16 goals in 35 games, earning him the move to the Estadio du Dragao.
Aboubakar is quick along the ground, but has a very strong upper-body. He can finish with both feet and is very adept at holding the ball up. Lorient president Loic Fery once commented that he first bought Aboubakar from Valenciennes because he felt the player was perfect for the Premier League.
Only time will tell if he was right.
BEN ARFA DREAMS OF ZIDANE
Speaking on French radio station RTL on Wednesday, OGC Nice winger Hatem Ben Arfa was asked about the appointment of Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid. The 28-year-old was happy for the former France midfielder, and he admitted that he dreamed of one day playing under the guidance of the French coach.
“He has a lot of advice to give, especially for offensive players, so of course it would be very beautiful to play under him one day.”
If anyone could get the best out of the former Newcastle United man, perhaps it would be Zizou.
RONY LOPES CONFIRMED LILLE TARGET
Speaking on the official Lille website on Wednesday, Lille president Michel Seydoux confirmed that Marcos “Rony” Lopes was a target for the club. “Rony Lopes? It’s true, he’s target that would liven our team and speed up our game.”
Lopes was excellent for Lille when on loan from Manchester City. Two thigh injuries hampered his time at the club, but when fit, he was one of the club’s brightest points. The 20-year-old has only played two games for Monaco this campaign.
