Ligue 1 Betting: Week 9 – Nice vs Lyon, Toulouse vs Monaco, Rennes vs Bordeaux

Every matchday the FFW team of Andrew, Jeremy, Philippa and Rich will each pick a game where they believe both teams will score, and an anytime scorer.

Let’s look at how the team did in Week 8

Well, arguably only Metz had a worse week than our team, who impressively scored an aggregate total of zero points for their predictions. As Yazz and the Plastic Population said, the only way is up (baby).

Jeremy 0/2 (4/14)
0/2 (2/14)
0/2 (2/14)
0/2 (3/14)

Jeremy and Andrew have gone for Friday evening’s match between Toulouse and Monaco. Toulouse have started the season impressively- particularly considering that five of their eight matches to date have been away from home. They’ve won all three of their home ties, scoring eight in the process and last time out beating PSG. Monaco have been in fine goal-scoring form themselves however – particularly in their last match where they scraped past Metz 7-0. This could be an open, high-scoring game.

Best price: 83/100

Philippa has also gone for a Friday evening match, as league leaders Nice host Lyon. Les Aiglons remain unbeaten in Ligue 1, where they have scored in every match and won every home match to date. Lyon, meanwhile, have been a bit Jekyll and Hyde, mixing the good with the bad and failing to win away from home since their first match of the season. Injuries haven’t helped but Lacazette is back and will surely make an appearance, even if only off the bench.

Best price: 5/7

Rich has gone for Rennes vs Bordeaux. For all Lyon’s inconsistency, you can usually rely on these two teams – who meet on Sunday – to outdo them with their frustrating unpredictability. Actually Rennes’ last five matches have followed a pattern – win, lose, win, lose, win – with all the wins coming at home, so they’ll fancy their chances this weekend. Bordeaux’s four away matches this season read two wins and two defeats. Which version of Jocelyn Gourvennec’s team will turn up this weekend?

Best price: 24/23

Philippa has gone for Monaco’s Fabinho. Four goals in seven is an impressive return for a defensive player – although three of those have come from the spot. Perhaps Phil is banking on Monaco’s in-form attack forcing Toulouse’s defence into a few rash challenges in their own area.

Best price: 6/1

Rich is putting his eggs in the Wylan Cyprien basket. The versatile midfielder has been one of Nice’s unsung heroes this season, with two assists to his name and a late winner against the other Olympique, as Nice beat Marseille 3-2. He’ll hope to make it a double this Friday.

Best price: 13/2

Jeremy has gone for Marseille’s Bafetimbi Gomis. The striker has five goals in eight this season – though like Fabinho, three of those have been from the spot. Metz’s defence could be very vulnerable after their roasting against Monaco, however, so the Panther will fancy his chances.

Best price: 11/10

Andrew is tipping Bordeaux’s Malcom to get on the scoresheet. While the Girondins’ away form has been up and down, Malcom has impressed on his travels, with two of this three goals this season coming away from the Matmut Atlantique. Andrew is banking on him steering the team to another away win.

Best price: 18/5
