Another one of our new signings for this season, and one we are very excited about. Steve is going to add so much to the site and has a wealth of knowledge and expertise in all facets of French football.

Hi everyone! I’m Steve and delighted to be part of the FFW team. I’m 25 years old and have been following French football for a number of years, in detail since 2006. The origins of my interest in the French game come from a betting background where I was always most successful in the French Ligues. Coupled with a writing job I had at the time which involved covering French football, I dedicated myself to become an expert in the field.

The French team I support is OM. Quite how this came about I’m not totally sure, but I guess I was very intrigued that such a big club hadn’t won a trophy for over a decade, so always wanted to cheer them on. Also the passion of the OM fans always attracted me, and they are a club I have always loved dearly. Recent times have been fairly good for OM, but I sadly predict a more difficult period coming up in the next few years. I contribute to the blog http://omarseilleuk.wordpress.com/ alongside Andrew Swann, who is another passionate UK based OM fan, It is well worth a read.

These days I work for a London based firm called Football Radar. They are basically a Football Analysis and statistical modelling company which have experts in many different leagues. The new blog section on their website for this season is well worth a read to anyone who is interested in European football.

I greatly admire the way in which FFW has evolved and developed since its creation. It really has come on leaps and bounds, I salute Andrew Gibney and others for all the hard work they have put into the site. I have always said that French Football and L1 is an underrated league of Europe and deserves more exposure. My passion is to highlight this fact to all those football lovers out there. It’s a pleasure to have been asked to contribute on FFW and there’s no doubt this site is going in the right direction and has a fine future.

Right now my prediction for this season is for PSG to win the ligue comfortably. I’d also tip Montpellier and Lille to once again be in the Champions League positions. Bordeaux are my dark horse to maybe break into the top 3. Lyon and OM will be flops again and struggle a bit.

Monaco should breeze Ligue 2 and I’d imagine a big club like Metz should win the National division. The Coupe de La Ligue and Coupe de France is anyone’s guess, but its about time Rennes and St Etienne won a trophy. Bordeaux might do quite well in those competitions too. All in all it promises to be an interesting French season with some quality football being played!
