What better time for French Football Weekly to pick our team of the season than during the winter break. 2012 is upon us and it has been a fascinating time in Ligue 1. The newly rich PSG lead the way, Montpellier surprised everyone and are deservedly second at this stage. The relegation battle is going to go to the wire again.

The French Football Weekly team got together to decide the best XI of the season so far. 22 players received nominations but only 11 would make the cut. Players from all over the league made the cut, eight teams represented and only one from the league leaders.

nice list, but why no Bastos? he has solohandedly carried Lyon several times this season

I agree Bastos has been superb. Six people picked 11 players and I think Bastos got 1 vote and everyone else picked Hazard and that’s why Bastos didn’t make it.
